Any Drop of Rain
It's trying to rain
on our world,
always takes me by surprise
Reaching up,
earth appears
closer now,
than sky.
Been falling, falling,
falling now,
takes me by surprise,
crying out my name - arriving.
Any drop of rain like this,
settled to the dust,
has breathed me,
smiled me,
unafraid to touch.
Any drop of rain like this,
wetting down the highway
has looked for me,
spoke with me,
loved, said goodbye.
Words for what remains
draw out present time,
as if all would disappear,
unable to express
all this trying to rain.

Lovely post, Scott. A few associations:
The Beatles
The Who
Something I wrote once about a car "wishing its way down a street of rain"
My friend Al Bellg's poem "Overcoats for the Dead"
"And the rain sounds like a round of applause."
-Tom Waits
"I don't mind...the weather's fine"
Love: rain on me! ?
Did you mean washing or wishing ?
Gogol's Overcoat,
"Is not sleeping in the rain the greatest of pleasures."
Thanks for writing. SPH
Scott this is beautiful. I love it.
So emotive.
Refreshed my spirit after a not-so-good day.
Thank you for visiting me earlier, it was good to see you.
Best wishes, jackie xxx
About time we had a new creation from you Dr Litmus.
