Avoiding the Switch

response to comment: by Jas.P. (resident augurate and raconteur of SpulgeNine@blogger)

"there is no substitute for experience and being experienced and for that matter a good night's rest"

The middle way mentioned closing the 'Cavalier post' is an appeal for diversity in the way we examine and respond to the small sphere of universe we experience. It suggests not being limited solely by linear concepts and pre-supposed associations.
In paragraph 4. an illustration is used: a sequence of visual symbols to represent alternative 'fashions' for directing our experiential and interpretive capacities.
The triangle: representing 3 points of conjunction(with each one point linked to the other 2) it suggests relations not made apparent by opposing points on a single line. However, a liberal appraisal would require that the relation between the 2 points be determined and in doing so a 3rd point of reference become apparent.

This is only one of many triadic applications[2 suggesting 3 and then demanding 3 in order to be understood] . A+B=C, with A painted blue,B painted yellow and C green could represent the basic triad of combination. The triad of the Mother Goddess as Birther,Lover,Destroyer and that of the 3 Fates, one weaving life's thread, one measuring it and one cutting its length, are 2 of the many instances figured in myth, wisdom story and recorded religion which add to the historic interpretive value of the triad. Even some modern constitutional governments are designed, show the capacity of triadic form to include self regulation.

Schools of reason have a grand precedent for invoking the triad to a proper application. But perhaps my own provincial notions of wisdom and beneficence as the guiding hand of " philosopher kings" does not allow( without some difficulty)me to include the Marx-Engels convention into this rock-n-roll hall of fame. Impossible, unless they are caricatured as pierced-out predator fashion, complete with anatomical trophies and blood on their hands. If Hegel had time-capsuled his dialectic synthesis and willed it only to the Logical Positivists, think how history might have played. The fact( of the matter) is that human [ nature/activity] lags far behind the frontier of human [thought/world spirit] . This thought sends me out for some fresh air every time: we might laugh at a picture of beggars, living in an old cemetery. Then... we hear them salute each other "O, most high.....O, king of kings. We might shake our heads unless we knew the openness of heart and selflessness they shared. In light of which,we might weep until rust began washing off our own heart.

There are two more examples of triadic expression to share before I close. The first is its use to commemorate the reconciliation of oppositions. Certain Zen schools have a tradition of creating a 3 line poem upon the experience of mastery. Aside from the fact that Hai-Ku is a single verse within the broader more developed poetic tradition of Hai-Kai, it suggests the depth of realization expressed in Hai-Kai, which is to be real-time intimate conversations in the language of the soul.
My final example is drawn from the Raga schools of North Indian/Hindustani music. In performances(which are uniquely improvised) a 3-limit is set upon the consecutive repetition of any melodic ornament or pattern, the objection is that it destroys the raga's beauty,to do so. It is interesting that( artistically) there are inappropriate instances of the 4-limit. This implies there are diverse proper ways to engage various thought space structures, and that this is an art.

The total-trip that the output of two electronic oscillators combines in a pattern, to produce a sine-wave, suggests a meaningful personal discovery.
